LETTER: Trump threatens democracy
So many are amazed to see our democracy being dismantled piece by piece by Donald Trump and his minions. He is not satisfied with destroying our government in Washington, D.C., he must now destroy it in the states too.
He wants to send the National Guard to cities which are Democratic, and the mayors are Black. His racial profiling knows no bounds. If he really cares about crime, send them into Republican states like Louisianan and Tennessee where crime is running rampant. Why did he not call the National Guard in immediately when his friends were destroying the Capitol building?
Ukraine is being torn apart piece by piece, and so many children are dying. This unjust war began by a war mogul whom Donald Trump said he would stop in 24 hours if he were elected. Almost nine months have passed since he took office, and the war rages on.
Donald Trump is a felon, and he ran against a woman who was a district attorney, attorney general, U.S. senator, and the vice president of the United States. People ignored her qualifications and voted for the felon.
The president set up a so-called summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin and bellowed before the meeting that, “If there is no cease fire there would be consequences.” However, when he met his friend Putin, he melted. What other world leader would lay out the red carpet for a dictator and a war criminal? Trump did just that. He also clapped when he saw Putin and gave him a warm handshake.
From there on, and until it was over, Putin was in charge. He also took advice from the dictator concerning “mail-in balloting.” Putin said it is unfair, so Trump said he would sign an executive order banning it. However, mail-in ballots have proven for years to be very safe.
He got his Big Ugly Bill passed, so now he wants to make sure that Republicans control Congress in the 2026 election. He began the process by calling on Gov. Greg Abbot in Texas to manipulate the congressional boundaries so five new Republican seats can be assured. Democrats are following the Republican’s lead and will pick up five Democratic seats in California.
During the campaign Trump kept saying, “I will be your retribution.” He has proven this to be true.
