Fayette County is set to embark on a remarkable journey through history with the Lafayette Inaugural Event on May 30, 2025. This special celebration marks the 200th anniversary of Marquis de Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, serving as the official kickoff to the county’s America 250 celebrations.

The event will begin with the grand opening of a dedicated Lafayette Exhibit at the Fayette County Historical Society on Route 40. This exhibit will offer visitors an opportunity to explore artifacts and stories from Lafayette’s influential journey across America, a tribute to his role in the nation’s fight for independence.

Following the exhibit’s opening, the festivities will continue in Uniontown with a visit to the Lafayette Meeting Room at the Gallatin Building. This historic location holds a connection to the county’s storied past, providing a fitting backdrop for the day’s commemorations.

The event will culminate in a large public celebration at the steps of the Fayette County Courthouse, starting at 2:30 p.m. This gathering will bring the community together to honor Lafayette’s legacy, with speeches, historical reflections, and a spirit of unity.

But the celebration doesn’t end there. As the evening approaches, the excitement will shift to Washington Run Park in Perryopolis for the “Summer Kick-Off at the Park.” Starting at 5:00 p.m., attendees can explore a variety of food options, including favorites like Juliette’s Empanadas, Elote’s Loca, Battlefield BBQ, Have An Ice Day, Fox’s Pizza, and more. Adult beverages will be available, provided by the Perryopolis Sons and Daughters of Italy and Winslow Winery.

Live music will light up the night, beginning at 7:00 p.m., headlined by Tim Litvin and The Nature Boy Band. Families can relax, enjoy the performances, and soak in the festive atmosphere.

Additionally, Washington’s Grist Mill and Shreve’s Distillery will be open for tours, giving attendees a chance to step back in time and experience historic sites that played a role during Lafayette’s Farewell Ride through Fayette County.

Hosted by the Perryopolis Parks and Recreation Authority, the Summer Kick- Off at the Park is set to be a highlight of the Lafayette Inaugural Event. Join Fayette County in honoring a legacy of courage, friendship, and freedom as America begins its 250th celebration.
