Wrestling fans’ wish list for Santa
It is that time of the year, and this week鈥檚 column features a wish list for wrestling fans.
Whether Santa Claus see this before he loads up Monday night is beyond me, but why not try!
For local wrestling fans looking for shows to attend, there are several promotions in the Pittsburgh area.
If you want to see a match that is guaranteed to deliver, check out the Brandon K versus Super Hentai match at the RYSE show on Jan. 5 in Lemont Furnace. These two have putting on classic matches since we were literally new to the wrestling business, and anytime they faced off, the entire locker room would watch on the backstage monitor.
Not sure how many more times they will square off, but they are sure to deliver!
For Vince McMahon, the understanding that he has lost touch with what young fans want. It is time for Vince to hand off the overall creative reigns to others, most notably Triple H.
Look no farther than what Triple H has done to build up stars in NXT. But as soon as they show up in WWE, they disappear and become nonrelevant.
While Vince is a big fan of large guys or guys with great builds, Triple H does his best to make fans invest emotionally in all NXT stars and he would do the same for WWE.
If the recent ratings aren鈥檛 proof that McMahon, who has final say on storylines, is out of touch, then I don鈥檛 know what is.
For TNA and Ring of Honor, the chance to build their respective brands so that more fans can be invested. ROH is in better shape, in my opinion, but it would be better for the pro wrestling world if fans had legit and viable options to what they see in WWE.
For loyal reader Fred from Uniontown, the chance to see Seth Rollins get revenge on Dean Ambrose in person.
For Stephanie from Monongahela who is going to WrestleMania, the chance to see a one-on-one classic main event between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.
For the respective Raw and Smackdown creative teams that answer to McMahon, a look at giving more wrestlers freedom like they have given Lynch and Rousey. It appears those two get 鈥渋t鈥 when it comes to marketing themselves and if other wrestlers were given the same creative freedom, more stars would be made.
For independent wrestlers who are making dumb decisions, like having light bulbs over their heads to get attention, I hope they give a hard and long look in the mirror. If they are having to do things like that to entertain people or to get noticed, then they need to find a new hobby.
For all fans who go to shows this year, whether indy shows, WWE shows or at any level in between, the chance to enjoy yourselves and have fun!
For all readers of this column, the opportunity to appreciate loved ones during the holiday season.
For those who have recently lost loved ones, the strength to move forward while appreciating what those people will always mean to them.
A great example is Herk Booker from Brownsville.
At a memorial service for his wife Janet last Saturday, Herk went out of his way to share his appreciation and thank us for our prayers and stories.
For fans who are attending WrestleMania at MetLife Stadium in April, I hope you have good weather!
I was at Mania 29 at the same venue, and it rained briefly during the kickoff show.
Let鈥檚 hope that Santa provides great weather for the greater New York City metropolitan area that weekend!
For everyone who reads this column, whether for the first time or each week, I hope you all know how much I appreciate you checking in!
And finally, I hope everyone has a great holiday season!
