Lynch on way to stardom
If WWE plays its cards right, Becky Lynch could be on her way to superstardom with a sky rocket on her back.
And the thing is, a broken nose may have triggered the rocket switch.
Lynch, the Smackdown women鈥檚 champion, was to face Raw women鈥檚 champion Ronda Rousey tonight at Survivor Series.
But when Lynch, who has been calling herself 鈥渢he Man,鈥� and the Smackdown women鈥檚 elimination team for tonight showed up at Raw on Monday, Lynch鈥檚 nose was broken by Raw鈥檚 Nia Jax.
Because of the injury, as well as a concussion, it was announced on Tuesday that Lynch would not be allowed to wrestle due to a 鈥渂roken face鈥� and is being replaced tonight by Charlotte Flair.
Rousey and Flair were the rumored main event for WrestleMania, but with WWE moving the match up, could Lynch end up facing Rousey at Mania?
WWE tried to turn Lynch into a 鈥渂ad guy鈥� at SumemrSlam when she turned on Flair, but the majority of the crowd has been behind Lynch as the WWE Universe has mostly gotten bored with Flair.
Even without facing Lynch yet, Rousey has helped the 鈥淚rish Lass Kicker鈥� without most people realizing it.
While WWE controls most of its stars in terms of social media posts, Rousey has free reign to do as she wishes.
The pair had been using social media to go at each other in non-scripted, real life posts in hyping the match for tonight, but now with the match off, they are going into overdrive and fans are eating it up.
On Wednesday, Rousey posted on her Instagram account, 鈥淯nfortunately now everyone knows if someone hauls off and punches (Lynch) for real, your face implodes鈥︹��
Lynch replied back a few hours later with, 鈥淲hen I got my face broke I got up, owned you and THEN showed up the next day looking to fight some more. When you got your face broke you hid for a year under your blankie鈥︹��
Lynch鈥檚 comment was in regard to Rousey being knocked out in UFC and not being seen in public for quite a while.
If WWE allows, and does not cut off Lynch鈥檚 popularity, she is the company鈥檚 next megastar and a match with Rousey at Mania would cement her status.
Rousey has some say on her storylines and according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon and Rousey have already discussed the match at Mania and it looks to be a go.
Bryan鈥檚 title win over Styles
Daniel Bryan鈥檚 WWE championship win over AJ Styles on Smackdown, and subsequent return to the role of a 鈥渧illain,鈥� were a surprise to many but not those closest to McMahon.
Originally, the champion versus champion match for tonight鈥檚 Survivor Series was scheduled to be Roman Reigns against Styles, but McMahon was not keen on the actual matchup.
When Reigns stepped away after his leukemia returned, McMahon put the title back on Brock Lesnar.
However, Lesnar and Styles faced off last year at Survivor Series and McMahon did not want a rematch.
Simply, he didn鈥檛 want his WWE champion losing two straight years to Lesnar and there was no way McMahon would have Lesnar lose to Styles.
So now with tonight鈥檚 match set for Lesnar and Bryan, there is little doubt Lesnar will win.
But will it be an entertaining match or a one-sided tilt?
It is well-known that when Lesnar doesn鈥檛 want to do anything in the ring, look at WrestleMania 32 against Dean Ambrose for an example, he is known to just throw his opponent around.
Size-wise, we could see that tonight, but wouldn鈥檛 it be something if the match doesn鈥檛 have an actual conclusion and Styles interferes leading to Bryan aligning with Heyman?
Survivor Series tonight
Other than the Rousey/Flair and Lesnar/Bryan matches tonight, there are six other matches.
Intercontinental champion Seth Rollins faces United States champion Shinsuke Nakamura, Authors of Pain faces The Bar, Buddy Murphy faces Mustafa Ali and there will be three elimination matches.
WrestleMania almost sold out in one day
WWE put WrestleMania tickets on sale on Friday, and as of Friday night, only singles seats remained for most of the show.
This is WWE鈥檚 second Mania at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and while WWE will release more tickets once the final setup configuration is finalized, the event is easily on its way to a legit sellout.
There may be packed deals left as well where fans can get tickets to Mania, Raw, Smackdown, the Hall of Fame and the NXT TakeOver show, but on www.ticketmaster.com, the only way to get multiple tickets together is to buy them from someone reselling them.
As of Saturday morning, the least expensive pair of tickets were listed at $582 each and they were in Section 223, a suite section.
On This Day鈥�
In 2001, the end of WWE鈥檚 Invasion angle concluded with Team WWE defeating Team Alliance (WCW and ECW).
This was the conclusion of a poorly-played out angle that, had it been done properly, could have been huge for the pro wrestling business.
But instead of making WCW and ECW looking strong throughout the six-plus-month storyline, McMahon buried the competition on screen lust like he had done with both going out of business.
