Full moon in WWE?

WrestleMania week is looked upon as a big celebration for wrestling fans, but there was all kind of craziness going on in WWE over the last week or so.

But first, WWE did right by its fans.

WrestleMania moment

Kofi Kingston鈥檚 WWE championship win over Daniel Bryan will go down as one of the top feel good moments in WWE history.

His post-match celebration in the ring with his kids was special and it would have been a great way to end the show as the main event.

WWE did right for a change as it gave fans what they wanted as Kingston won, Seth Rollins defeated Brock Lesnar for the Universal title and Becky Lynch won both women鈥檚 titles in the Winner Takes All match.

Main event finished botched?

Speaking of the Winner Takes All match, perhaps the craziest thing to come out of Mania was that the finish may have been messed up.

Confusion ensued when the referee counted Ronda Rousey鈥檚 shoulders down even though her shoulders were clearly off the mat as Lynch attempted a pin.

For as important of a match as it was, there should not have been any mistakes regardless of who messed up.

It was the first women鈥檚 main event in Mania history, yet instead of being talked about as making history, it will be remembered more so for the botched finish.

Two writers step down

Brian James, known as 鈥淩oad Dogg鈥 Jesse James, and Robert Evans resigned from their respective writing positions.

James had been the lead writer for Smackdown Live while Evans also wrote on the show.

Apparently, James became so fed up with Vince McMahon always changing the final script for the shows and he had had enough.

Evans caught McMahon鈥檚 ire backstage at the Hall of Fame ceremony last Friday.

McMahon held James responsible when McMahon was mentioned during an induction speech, which he does not want.

There is confusion as to whether Evans quit or was fired, but regardless, he is gone from the company.

Hart attacked at Hall ceremony

To add to the week of crazy, Hart was attacked during the induction speech for the Hart Foundation tag team.

A fan rushed the stage and attacked Hart before several wrestlers stepped in.

Banks and Bayley upset?

Several sources are reporting that Sasha Banks and Bayley were so upset that they were to lose the women鈥檚 tag titles that they publicly protested.

Two reports have stated that they laid on the floor in front of the locker room backstage at Mania and again at the hotel.

Word is that Banks tried to quit and she ended up not appearing earlier this week on the Wendy Williams Show, where she was to be a guest, due to a 鈥渇amily emergency.鈥

Banks also used social media to complain and has been given time off from WWE.

Styles, Big E and Jax hurt

AJ Styles hurt his left hip during his Mania match against Randy Orton and while his x-rays were negative, he has not been cleared to return to the ring.

Big E has a torn meniscus and will be out of action for a while.

Nia Jax will be having surgery on both of her ACL鈥檚 and will be out for a long stretch.

Mania gate

WWE handed out a press release to media after the event saying that the gate for the event grossed $16.9 million, setting a new record for MetLife Stadium for an entertainment event.

Only WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas had a higher gate.

The previous standard at MetLife was $12.3 million which was set my Mania 29 in 2013.

The announced attendance of 82,265 is the third highest in WWE history behind Mania鈥檚 32 (101,763) and III (93,173).

Superstar Shakeup this week

WWE鈥檚 annual Superstar Shakeup will take place this week on Raw and Smackdown Live.

A lot of things happened at Mania as well as the next two nights on Raw and then Smackdown Live, so next week we will look at those events as well as what happened in the Shakeup to see if things make more sense.

Next week

In next week鈥檚 column, we will look at a new book titled, 鈥淕ood Advice From Professional Wrestling,鈥 which was written by Darren Paltrowitz and D.X. Ferris.

A California University of Pennsylvania grad, Ferris sat down this week to discuss the book and the interview will be featured in next week鈥檚 column.

TV deal for AEW?

AEW may be closing in on securing a TV deal with Warnermedia, formerly known as Turner Broadcasting.

If the deal pans out, it is big for AEW as the company has technically not even had its first show yet.
