AEW, NXT, Wyatt, more
It has been a very busy week in pro wrestling and we have plenty of news in this week鈥檚 column.
AEW All Out Saturday night
All Elite Wrestling presents All Out on PPV Saturday night.
Chris Jericho will face Adam 鈥淗angman鈥 Page to crown the first-ever AEW World Championship match.
Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose in WWE, was to face Kenny Omega, but Moxley came down with a MRSA staph infection and is off the card.
The Lucha Brothers will defend the AAA tag titles against The Young Bucks in a ladder match, Cody takes on Shawn Spears and Dark Order takes on Best Friends for a bye in the tag title tournament in some of the bigger matches.
AEW vs. NXT official
This past week, WWE announced that NXT will air on the USA Network on Wednesday nights, and as predicted weeks ago in this column, it will run head-to-head with AEW.
NXT will air from 8-10 p.m. each Wednesday starting on Sept. 18, while AEW debuts on TNT on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
More on NXT鈥檚 future outlook future next week.
AEW to Pittsburgh
Speaking of AEW, it will air from the Petersen Events Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on Oct. 23.
Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.
More on Wyatt鈥檚 mask and lantern
Last week, we discussed Bray Wyatt鈥檚 lantern that he used at SummerSlam being made at Douglas Education Center (DEC) in Monessen.
Since last week, more information has been provided by Janelle Imbrescia and Julian Imbrescia.
The lantern and also the mask Wyatt used were made by a pair of FX grads at DEC, Jason Baker and Ell Farrington, of the legendary Tom Savini鈥檚 team.
The duo created the mask and lantern at Savini鈥檚 studio in Pittsburgh.
In a cool fact not known by many, the Firefly Funhouse episodes were filmed in Monessen on the Soundstage at DEC.
More information to follow!
Big ROH news
It was announced on Friday that the Sinclair Broadcast Group, the parent company of Ring of Honor, has completed its acquisition of a number of former FOX 缅北禁地 Regional networks from Disney.
Considering that ROH is on almost every Sinclair asset, it is a safe bet to think that ROH will also air on the added channels.
On This Day鈥
In 2002, the best SummerSlam ever took place.
Among the stacked card, Brock Lesnar defeated The Rock to become the youngest WWE champion in history (at the time), Shawn Michaels returned after four-and-a-half years off to defeat Triple H in a non-sanctioned match, Kurt Angle defeated Rey Mysterio, Edge defeated Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam defeated Chris Benoit for the Intercontinental title and Ric Flair defeated Chris Jericho.
If you haven鈥檛 seen the show, it is definitely worth your time.
This week鈥檚 question:
Who will be the next WWE star released and then head to AEW? Craig, Connellsville.
WWE used to release several talents after WrestleMania each year, but that has slowed down in recent years.
And now that WWE knows released talents have legit options elsewhere. I don鈥檛 see WWE releasing too many talents unless the company feels the talents will not be able to make it to the main roster of one of the three brands.
So, who will the next person be?
Your guess is as good as mine!
