Garber scores 1,000th-career point in Raiders’ 64-58 win over Scotties
Lucas Garber reached the 1,000-point milestone as Waynesburg Central rallied for a 64-58 non-section victory over Southmoreland on Tuesday at Waynesburg Central High School.
Garber scored a game-high 26 points and had five assists. Teammate Avery McConville added 15 and Chris King put in 11. King also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The Scotties’ Riley Comforti had 20 points, and Alexander Luft and Bryton Montgomery had 10 points apiece.
Southmoreland held an 18-17 lead after the first quarter, and after outscoring the Raiders, 16-10, in the second, the Scotties (0-3) pushed their advantage to 34-27 at halftime.
Waynesburg Central (2-1) used a 19-10 edge in the third quarter to take a 46-44 lead heading into the fourth. The Raiders outscored Southmoreland, 18-14, in the final period.
Waynesburg Central opens Section 3-AAAA play up on Friday when it travels to Belle Vernon (1-2) for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
The Scotties host Yough (3-1) in non-section play on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
