Charleroi (2-1) cut the deficit to 12 at 48-36 after holding a 16-9 advantage in the third. South Allegheny outscored the home team, 19-6, in the fourth.

The Gladiators had two players with 17 points in Omar Faulkner and Dylan Hymes. South Allegheny’s Antonio Epps added 16 points. Hymes made five 3-pointers and Epps connected on four.

The Cougars open Section 4-AAA play on Friday when they host Washington (1-0) at 7:30 p.m.
