‘Final Battle’ PPV airs tonight
There is a plethora of news this week in the world of pro wrestling, so let鈥檚 jump right in!
Final Battle, ROH鈥檚 last PPV of 2019, takes place tonight.
Some of the top matches include Rush defending the ROH title against PCO, Shane Taylor defending the ROH TV title against Dragon Lee, The Briscoes defend the ROH tag titles against Jay Lethal and Jonathan Grisham and Mark Haskins faces Bully Ray in a Street Fight.
WWE TLC Sunday
WWE presents TLC on the WWE Network Sunday.
Top matches include Universal champion Bray Wyatt facing The Miz, Roman Reigns facing King Corbin in a TLC match and Rusev facing Bobby Lashley in a Tables match.
nWo, Batista to WWE Hall
It was announced on Monday that the nWo and Batista would headline WWE鈥檚 Hall of Fame class for 2020.
This once again shows WWE giving away too much as both nWo and Batista deserve to headline their own class but will go in during the same year.
WWE is quickly running out of names to headline classes and it could have gotten away with inducting the nWo or Batista without the other.
WWE releases four
WWE dusted off its 鈥渁ll the best in future endeavors鈥 line last Sunday as it released a quartet of performers.
Luke Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) were given their walking papers, and more could be on the way.
Just last week, Harper (under his birth name) filed for the trademark for the name Brodie Lee, which is what he used for years on the independent circuit.
Two wrestlers fail wellness test
Robert Roode and Primo have been suspended for 30 days by WWE for failing its wellness policy.
Lynch special on USA
WWE 24: Becky Lynch, an excellent piece done for the WWE Network that originally aired in May, will air on Wednesday on the USA Network.
It will air immediately after NXT show ends.
More trademark news
Coming on the heels of last week鈥檚 news about trademarks being filed by several wrestlers, both WWE and AEW have filed for some new trademarks.
WWE filed for several former WCW and ECW PPV names, while AEW filed the phrase Join the Revolution.
Local duo earn WWE tryout
Duke Davis and Gannon Jones, standouts for RYSE, recently had tryouts with WWE during its most recent class.
The pair are uber talented and if they are not signed by WWE, look for them to sign somewhere else.
On This Day 鈥
In 1988, The Colossal Connection (Andre the Giant and Haku) defeated Demolition for the WWE tag team titles.
In 1989, the NWA held the seventh Starrcade event, titled Future Shock: Night of Iron Men and instead of having a supercard, the NWA went in a different direction.
Four men, Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger and The Great Muta competed in a round-robin format to crown a winner with no titles on the line. Four teams also competed in tag matches with the quartet being The Steiners, Doom, The Samoan Swat Team and The Road Warriors.
Sting won the singles tournament, while The Road Warriors won the tag version.
This week鈥檚 question:
Will CM Punk face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania? Craig, Herminie.
It certainly seems that a potential dream match for fans is brewing.
Will it happen? Possibly.
Rollins, who suffered an injury this past weekend, seems to be playing up a potential match and it would not surprise me if WWE and Punk have already come to terms on a deal but are keeping it completely quiet.
