Cougars edge Southmoreland, 44-42

Southmoreland’s rally Friday night fell one field goal short with visiting Yough holding on for a 44-42 non-section victory.

The Cougars improve to 4-1 overall, while the Scotties slip to 0-4.

Yough led 16-10 after the first quarter and the teams played to an 8-8 tie for a Cougars’ advantage at halftime, 24-18.

Southmoreland cut the deficit to three points, 33-30, at the end of the third quarter and held a slim 12-11 advantage in the final eight minutes.

Cody Ulander led the Cougars with 14 points. Josh O’Bradovich and Gamal Marballie both finished with 11.

Riley Comforti scored a game-high 19 points for Southmoreland.
