WWE moves out of nowhere
At its WWE Money in the Bank PPV last Sunday, it announced that Mick Foley would introduce a new championship the next night on Raw.
This was kind of surprising as WWE has too many titles already and have done nothing to build up the prestige of any of them.
Foley debuted the 24/7 title Monday and it led the live crowd to collectively moan.
The belt will be defended 24 hours a day and seven days a week as long as a WWE referee present.
This is the same rule that was eventually used for the Hardcore title that was debuted in 1998.
At first, my initial reaction was of me shaking my head because it came out of nowhere.
The move comes after the USA Network shared its unhappiness with WWE about the dropping ratings and made several suggestions.
According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter, WWE did not like any of the ideas and the 24/7 title was the best of the bad ideas.
But after letting logic set in, it will give guys who are not used much a chance to be in storylines.
I am still not feeling the title, but who knows.
If it elevates lower and mid-card talent, then it will be a good move for the company.
Lesnar鈥檚 win
Speaking of bad ideas, WWE decided to make a switch from Ali winning the MitB contract to Brock Lesnar and then did not tell anyone before the match except Ali.
The MitB contract has elevated wrestlers in the past and Lesnar is the last man who needs elevated.
Local announcer battling cancer
On Tuesday, I received word that a good friend of mine and longtime Keystone State Wrestling Alliance ring announcer, 鈥淭rapper鈥 Tom Leturgey, is battling cancer.
He was recently diagnosed with a rare chondrosarcoma.
鈥淚t is a bone cancer,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t is in my left leg.鈥
The issue was discovered when Leturgey, a Cal U grad, as he walked to his part-time job for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Opening Day.
He later found out that the fibula broke because of the mass growing inside the bone and had done a show without realizing what he was fighting cancer.
One to always have a positive spin about everything, Leturgey used a play on words from a line that Kurt Angle has used for years.
鈥淚 worked the event with a broken freakin鈥 fibula,鈥 he said jokingly, which closely mirrors Angle鈥檚 line of, 鈥淚 won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin鈥 neck.鈥
Leturgey has been donning a walking boot inside the ring and out and during his current journey, it was revealed that he will be having surgery on his kidney on May 30 and a full recovery is expected.
Despite the recent health concerns, Leturgey will announce the KSWA鈥檚 next event on June 22.
Best of luck to Tom and his loved ones on a healthy recovery.

AEW moving forward
All Elite Wrestling will now move forward from its Double or Nothing PPV on Saturday and time will tell how things will shake out.
If given time, the promotion could do solid things for the business and its deal on TNT is a move in that direction.
