Colonials hold on for 60-56 victory at Carrick

The Albert Gallatin boys led 31-20 at halftime and then held off a second-half rally for a 60-56 non-section road victory at Carrick.

Carrick (7-12) outscored Albert Gallatin in the second half, 36-29.

Blake White led four players for Albert Gallatin (8-9) in double figures with 16 points. Shymere Wilson scored 15, Ethan Kennedy finished with 12, and Tyrone Burton added 10.

Carrick’s Brayden Fisher scored a game-high 23 points.

Waynesburg Central 58, California 38 — The Raiders held the Trojans to two points in the first quarter and breezed to a non-section road victory.

Waynesburg led by 12 points after the first quarter and 15 points at halftime. The lead grew to 54-21 at the end of the third quarter.

The Raiders’ Alex Vansickle hit five 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 19 points. Austin Surber scored 12 points. Alex Eck finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Cole Headlee dished out six assists.

Hunter Brown led California with 10 points. Jayden Knox added seven points.

Gateway 73, Belle Vernon 63 — Zion Moore made nine 3-pointers, but the Leopards fell short in a non-section loss to the visiting Gators.

Moore finished with a game-high 34 points. Trevor Kovatch scored 16 points for Belle Vernon (11-6) and Tommy Davis grabbed 12 rebounds.

Alex Loury led the way for the Gators with 30 points. Vito Campolo scored 15 points and Bryson Pavlik added 12.

Gateway (14-5) led 38-26 at halftime and extended its lead to 55-43 after three quarters.

Girls basketball

Trinity 64, Albert Gallatin 29 — The Lady Hillers pulled away in the second quarter for a non-section road win at Albert Gallatin.

Trinity led 16-10 after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 36-17 at halftime. The lead grew to 54-21 after three quarters.

Mya Glisan led Albert Gallatin with 10 points and Grayce Panos added seven.

Ruby Morgan scored 14 points and Sutton Williamson added 10 for Trinity.

Women’s basketball

Christendom 86, Penn State Fayette – The visitors led 34-2 after the first quarter and didn’t look back for a non-conference win over the Lions.

Za’layah Edwards led Fayette with 14 points. Stephanie Taylor and Ava Hair both contributed eight points.

Christendom’s Mary Pennefather scored a game-high 31 points. Catherine Thomas and Miaranda Keller both finished with 17 points, and Libby Kolesar added 10.

Gannon 69, California (Pa.) 57 – The Golden Knights led throughout the game for a PSAC West Conference home victory.

Gannon improves to 15-0 in the PSAC West and 23-1 overall. The Vulcans go to 9-6 in the conference and 14-7 overall.

Gannon held quarter leads of 17-15, 32-23 and 53-45.

Allycia Harris scored a team-high 17 points for California. Dejah Terrell finished with 11 points and Iyahnna Williams added 10.

Samantha Pirosko paced Gannon with 23 points and Bri Claxon added 22.

Allegheny 72, Waynesburg 54 – Allegheny pulled away with 30 points in the third quarter for a Presidents’ Athletic Conference road victory.

Allegheny (11-5, 12-7) led 28-27 at halftime and extended its lead to 58-36 at the end of the third quarter.

Mia Henkins led Waynesburg (3-13, 4-17) with 15 points.

Allegheny’s Emily Lauer scored a game-high 24 points. Jess Bickart (14), Sarah Santicola (12), and Sofia Genareo (10) also finished in double figures.

Men’s basketball

Gannon 107, California (Pa.) 98 – The Golden Knights’ halftime lead held for a PSAC West Conference home win.

Gannon runs its conference record to 13-2 and overall mark to 19-2. The Vulcans are 12-3 in the PSAC West and 18-3 overall.

The Golden Knights led 60-50 at halftime.

KJ McClurg paced California with a game-high 28 points. Jermaine Hall, Jr. finished with 21 points. Bryson Lucas and Zyan Collins both scored 11 points, and Keith Palek III added 10.

Gannon’s Josh Omojuto scored a team-high 27 points. Derrick James finished with 20 points. Lyle Tipton (13), Zach Hobbs (10), and Ernest Shelton (11) also finished in double figures.

Waynesburg 73, Allegheny 64 – Antone Baker’s 30 points led the Yellow Jackets to a Presidents’ Athletic Conference home victory.

Waynesburg (11-10, 18-8) held a 38-36 halftime lead.

Waynesburg’s Jaylen Davis had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.Jordan McLoyd finished with 17 points.

Ryan Lang (13), Luke Barker (12), and Isaiah Portis (11) finished in double figures for the Gators (3-13, 5-16).
