Local roundup: Lady Falcons rout Latrobe after slow start, 20-10
Addison Smith smacked three hits, including a double, and knocked in three runs as Connellsville rallied from an early five-run deficit to storm past visiting Latrobe, 20-10, in a non-section softball game Monday.
The Lady Wildcats pushed across five runs in the top of the first inning but the Lady Falcons answered with five of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Latrobe went back ahead with a run in the third but Connellsville scored six in the bottom of the inning to go up 11-6 and pulled away from there.
Maggie Orndorff also had three hits along with an RBI and winning pitcher Halle Parfitt doubled and drove in four runs for the Lady Falcons.
Connellsville also got a double and three RBIs from Rylee Dreves, a double, single, RBI and four runs from Molly Greenawalt, a double, single and two RBIs from Kalyn Cole, a double and a single from Cali Leichliter and two hits and two RBIs from Addison Lloyd.
Sara Blossey had three hits, including a double, for Latrobe.
MORGANTOWN 9, CARMICHAELS 3 – Madison Wisman had two hits and an RBI and was the winning pitcher as host Morgantown beat the Lady Mikes in a non-section game.
Wisman allowed one earned run in tossing a five-hitter with two walks and 13 strikeouts.
Kira Smith and Beth Robinson both had a single, double and an RBI Morgantown.
Ke’Lani Chun and Bailey Barnyak had two hits apiece for Carmichaels.
Barnyak allowed nine runs but only three were earned in taking the loss.
WAYNESBURG CENTRAL 8, COVENTRY 0 – Gina Tedrow fired a six-inning no-hitter and Ellie Makel was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs as the Lady Raiders blanked Coventry in a non-section matchup.
Tedrow walked two and struck out 13.
Eva Pester also had three hits and two RBIs for Waynesburg, which got one RBI apiece from Kolbi Rastoka and Kalee Piper.
