The Waynesburg girls won the second time in as many games Saturday with a 50-29 victory over Ligonier Valley in the Donna M. Furnier Tournament at Jefferson-Morgan.

The Lady Raiders (2-0) led 16-4 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 32-10 at halftime.

Kaley Rohanna paced Waynesburg with a game-high 18 points. Peyton Cowell finished with 11 points.

Marlee Miller scored 13 points for the Lady Rams.

Charleroi 36, Monessen 25 – The Lady Cougars pulled away in the fourth quarter in the Major Corley Tip-Off Tournament title game against the host Lady Greyhounds.

Charleroi (2-0) led 15-10 at halftime and 23-17 after three quarters. The Lady Cougars put the game away with a 13-8 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Riley Jones and Bella Carroto both scored 10 points for Charleroi. Rayniya Lyons finished with six points for Monessen (1-1).

Brownsville 45, Chartiers-Houston 32 – The host Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Bucs in the championship of the Falcon Fest.

Brownsville (2-0) held quarter leads of 10-4, 28-11 and 34-22.

The Lady Falcons’ Ava Clark scored 23 points and was named the Tournament MVP. Skyler Gates added 10 points.

Ava Capozzoli finished with 11 points for Chartiers-Houston (1-1).

Uniontown 46, Bentworth 19 – The Lady Raiders recovered from a season-opening loss to Chartiers-Houston with a victory over Bentworth in the consolation of the Falcon Fest.

Uniontown (1-1) led 13-7 after the first quarter and 21-11 at halftime. The lead grew to 32-11 after three quarters.

The Lady Raiders’ A’kira Dade scored a game-high 12 points.

Amber Sallee led the Lady Bearcats (0-2) with 10 points.

Laurel Highlands 50, Franklin Regional 38 – Sierra Jenkins, Ayrianna Sumpter and Miya Harris combined for 43 points to lead the host team to a victory in the C. Vivian Stringer Tournament.

Jenkins scored a game-high 18 points for Laurel Highlands (2-0). Sumpter finished with 15 points and Harris added 10.

Elizabeth Forward 56, Keystone Oaks 41 – The Lady Warriors held a 34-18 scoring advantage in the second half for a victory over the host team of the Keystone Oaks Tournament.

Alyssa Terza finished with game-scoring honors for Elizabeth Forward (1-1) with 22 points. Chloe Zombek finished with 11 points.

Alayna Wagner scored 12 points and Bailey Rieg added 11 for Keystone Oaks (1-1).

Seton-La Salle 51, Belle Vernon 35 – The Lady Leopards trailed at halftime, 28-12, and were unable to rally in the second half for a loss in the Woodland HIlls Tournament.

Kenzi Seliga paced Belle Vernon (0-1) with 15 points. Nina Francia added 11 points.

Mallory Daly and Addie Lonergan shared game-scoring honors with 17 points each for Seton-La Salle (1-0).

Bishop Canevin 51, West Greene 34 – The Lady Pioneers led 16-12 after the first quarter, but only scored seven points over the next two quarters for a loss in the Fort Cherry Tip-Off Tournament.

Kendra Tharp scored eight points for West Greene (0-2).

Julianna Umalin led the Lady Crusaders (1-1) with 21 points. Isabella Sysak added 14 points.

Boys basketball

Greensburg Salem 56, Connellsville 52 – The Falcons were unable to hold the lead in the fourth quarter as the Golden Lions rallied for the win in the Hempfield Tip-Off Tournament.

Connellsville (0-2) trailed 15-13 after the first quarter, but held a 27-22 halftime lead. The Falcons maintained the five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Greensburg Salem (1-1) outscored Connellsville in the fourth quarter, 20-12.

Jayden Mickens led the Falcons with 17 points. Bruce Giles scored 11 points and Anthony Piasecki added 10.

AJ Tarpley scored 17 points for the Golden Lions. Teammate Ryan Burkart finished with 14 points.

Jefferson-Morgan 46, Waynesburg Central 39 – The Rockets built a seven-point cushion heading into the fourth quarter and made the advantage stand for a victory in the Fort Cherry Tip-Off Tournament.

Jefferson-Morgan (1-1) led 16-10 after the first quarter and 23-22 at halftime.

Jase Bedillion (12), Max Ivanusic (11), and Dayten Marion (10) all finished in double figures for the Rockets.

Cole Headlee led the Raiders (0-2) with 12 points.

Clairton 64, Ringgold 49 – The Bears scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a victory in the MVI Shootout Classic.

Clairton (1-1) led 25-9 after the first quarter, but Ringgold closed the gap to 30-27 at halftime and 44-43 after three quarters.

Clairton outscored the Rams (1-1) in the fourth quarter, 20-6.

Daryl Tolliver paced Ringgold with 23 points. Clairton’s DaShawn Hines scored a game-high 25 points.

South Allegheny 59, Belle Vernon 58 – Belle Vernon thought it had tied the game when Zion Moore hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left, but the referee counted the shot as a two-pointer and it was not reflected on the scoreboard until time expired in a close loss in the MVI Shootout Classic.

Moore led the Leopards (0-1) with a game-high 36 points. Trevor Kovatch finished with 10 points. Tommy Davis grabbed 14 rebounds and Dane Daugherty finished with 11 rebounds.

Cam Epps (19), Drew Cook (16), and Michael Michalski (10) scored double figures for the Gladiators (2-0).

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 57, Brownsville 33 – The Chargers (2-0) used a balanced scoring attack in topping the host Falcons in the Falcon Fest championship game.

Austin Avsec led OLSH with 16 points, Jake Johnson followed with 15 and Vann Kavias chipped in with 14.

Harlan Davis paced Brownsville (1-1) with 11 points and Trenton Wible had six.

Bentworth 69, Mapletown 44 – Ben Hays tossed in a game-high 25 points and Lucas Burt followed with 15 as the Bearcats knocked off the host Maples in the Mapletown Tip-off Tournament.

Bentworth (1-0) led 23-10, 41-16 and 57-24 at the breaks.

Chris Harper and Ross Skerbetz also hit double figures for the Bearcats with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

J.T. Mick led Mapletown (0-1) with 11 points.

Boys wrestling

Chartiers-Houston Tournament – Three Bentworth wrestlers won titles in the tournament hosted by Chartiers-Houston.

Drake McClure (121), Chris Vargo (133), and Vitali Daniels (189) all won the title bouts for the Bearcats.

Beth-Center’s Jacob Layhue lost to Daniels in the 189-pound title bout by technical fall.

West Greene’s Noah Collins (114) and Colin Whyte (215), Beth-Center’s Mason Wright (127), and Albert Gallatin’s Landon Conroy (172) all lost in the finals.

Elizabeth Forward’s Damon Michaels placed third at 152 pounds. The Colonials’ James Standish (215) also finished in third place.

Beth-Center’s Alex Medlen (114) and Malachi Peak (215), West Greene’s Seth Burns (127), Elizabeth Forward’s Lucas Boyer (139), and Bentworth’s Owen Ivcic (152), Brayden Taggart (172), and Alex Rusilko (285) all won their fifth-place consolation matches.
