Frazier’s Brasil Paroda sweeps field events in tri-meet at Mount Pleasant

Frazier junior Vivian Brasil Paroda won the discus, javelin and shot put in Wednesday’s Section 8-2A girls track & field ti-meet against Geibel Catholic and Mount Pleasant at Vikings Stadium.

Paroda broke her personal record (PR) in all three victories. She won the discus with a throw of 75-3, the javelin 84-4 and the shot put with a toss of 24-11 score 15 total team points for the Lady Commodores.

The Lady Vikings (4-2, 4-2) defeated Frazier, 111-33, and the Lady Gators, 114-30. Geibel (1-4, 1-4) topped the Lady Commodores, 49-42.

The Lady Gators’ Emma Larkin won the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run and the long jump. The senior crossed the finish line in the 400 in 1:01.43 and the 800 in 2:46.18. She broke her PR in the long jump with a leap of 14-11.

Frazier ninth grader Emma Philburn set PRs in the 100 and 200-meter dashes with wins in 13.61 and 28.90.

Mount Pleasant’s Mia Vanella won the 100 and 300 hurdles in times of 19.54 and 1:00.34. The sophomore’s time in the 100 hurdles broke her PR.

The senior duo of Laurel Rummel (6:33.93) and Kaylea Voke (14:26.53) won the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs for the home team.

The Lady Vikings scored a total of 27 of a possible 36 points to dominate the jumping events, and would have swept if not for two scratches in the high jump and Larkin winning the long jump.

Victoria Tepper (4-0) won the high jump, and the trio of Ella Paul (7-6), Tora Hasch (7-0) and Brooklyn Ulery (6-0) finished 1-2-3 in the pole vault and also broke their PRs.

Bella Ankeny won the triple jump (30-4), while Tepper (29-9.5) was second and Addison Cole third with a PR of 29-9. Ulery (14-9) broke her PR in the long jump and Ankeny (14-2) placed third.

Mount Pleasant won the 400 and 3,200 relays in 55.47 and 12:16.21. The Lady Commodores won the 1,600 relay in 5:18.27.

BOYS: MOUNT PLEASANT 127, FRAZIER 23; MOUNT PLEASANT 139, GEIBEL CATHOLIC 7; FRAZIER 99, GEIBEL CATHOLIC 19 — The Vikings swept a Section 8-2A tri-meet in dominating fashion at Vikings Stadium.

Bryson Bakosh won the high (5-8), long (20-7) and triple (40-2) jumps for Mount Pleasant (5-2, 5-2). Teammates Andrew Brodak (shot put/41-1; javelin/138-6), Damien Ohler (400/54.66; 800/2:28.10) and Tyke Snyder (200/24.51; 300 hurdles/45.18) won two individual events apiece for the home team.

The Vikings’ Gage Sowers broke his PR in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 14-2. Grayson Gardner (discus/104-5), Kyle Hoffer (110 hurdles/19.32) and Bradley Bando (3,200/12:39.49) won their respective events for the home team.

Mount Pleasant won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays in times of 47.32, 3:53.65 and 10:27.94.

The Gators’ Anthony Nickischer won the 100 in 11.89.

The Commodores’ Tanner Merrill topped the field in the 1,600 in 5:29.88.
