Two firefighters injured responding to Monongahela fire

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries combating a fire that fully engulfed a house Saturday night in Monongahela. The Monongahela Fire Department said on Facebook that multiple fire departments were called out shortly before midnight to a fire at 502 Warne Ave. Extension off the Cemetery Hill section of Route 88. While fighting the fire, two firefighters were injured during a fall, a department representative said Sunday morning. Bentleyville police chief, ex-treasurer launch civil suit against borough, six officials

Bentleyville Police Chief Richard Young and former Treasurer/Secretary Tammy Stamm have launched a civil suit against the municipality and six borough officials, claiming the borough published false and defamatory statements against the two saying they had misused public funds. Young and Stamm filed a praecipe for writ of summons to initiate the lawsuit Aug. 10 in Washington County Court of Common Pleas. Their attorney, William Labovitz, said filing a writ stops the clock on the statute of limitations.
