A West Virginia independent contractor is facing charges after allegedly failing to finish work on a Greene County home. Michael Brown, 62, of Maidsville, W.Va., had made a verbal agreement in October 2023 to perform work on the house in Greensboro, according to the criminal complaint. Homeowner Diane Pilon, who lives in Morgantown, W.Va., told police her family paid Brown the agreed-upon fee of $57,000 over the next two years. Brown has yet to finish the work, and was not responding to the Pilons鈥� requests for updates, the complaint said. A Carmichaels man died Saturday evening in a motorcycle accident. The office of Greene County Coroner Gene Rush identified the man as 30-year-old Joshua Michael Brown. According to a press release, Brown was involved in a motorcycle accident that occurred at about 5 p.m. Saturday on State Route 21 in Jefferson Township. More details were not immediately available. Brown was pronounced dead at 8:12 p.m. His specific cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
A Uniontown woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend during an altercation at their residence Saturday night. Latica Lewis, 34, allegedly gave Christopher Greer a deep puncture wound to his arm during the argument, which court documents said took place around 4 a.m. at their home on Pershing Court. Greer told police after stabbing his arm, Lewis attempted to stab him approximately 60 more times, though he fended most of the blows off with a pillow. Both were transported to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital. Equitrans appealed to the state Superior Court after a Greene County judge denied its motion for relief in a lawsuit over a 2018 house fire in Morgan Township. The state Attorney General鈥檚 office filed a felony charge in 2023 against Equitrans for violating the Pennsylvania Clean Streams law after a grand jury accused the company of failing to investigate long-known methane leakage at the Pratt Storage Field, which sat below the house.
